A tale of shipwreck, survival and subterfuge!
A retired merchant navy Captain recounts the true story of the wreck of his ship, the Nottingham Galley, on a small, desolate island called Boon Rock, located some ten miles off the coast of North America.
After an arduous attempt to reach the safety of solid land, the crew find themselves stranded with no provisions in the harsh cold of the New England winter. Inevitably, the need to survive forces the men to resort to cannibalism but, in spite of this sinful act, divine Providence comes to their aid and they are rescued from a cold and lonely death.
The Captain returns home to a heroes welcome, but soon his reputation is challenged by his former shipmates. As defamatory rumours start to spread, the identity of the man telling the story becomes unclear and the story of a valiant Captain's heroism changes into a tale of deception, dirty money and treason!
